Iron Warriors Warsmith

This represents several firsts for me! This machine was extremely well converted and asculpted by Mike (Dragyn) Brown, a good painting friend. He commissioned me to paint him which was indeed a daunting task, mainly because of my "expertise" in the area of Fantasy as opposed to 40K.

I had to paint this fellow in 4 different pieces as he is a large 54mm =][= scale conversion and shipping would be a nightmare otherwise. The big firsts are the scale and the genre. I have never painted an =][= scale miniature before nor have I painted anything quite so Robotic and Futuristic. It was, though difficult, extremely fun to paint and a challenge indeed!

The hardest hurdle for me was what to do with the base. I have not done a techno or industrial style base before so I elected to go with some chunks of scrap metal and an old corrugated culvert. Some oil spilling out of the culvert kind of shows what we have to look forward to in the far future I guess :)
