Moonglum

Moonglum is the companion to Elric, one of the aspects of the Eternal Champion. Most aspects have a companion that travels with them and is often the voice of reason for them. Moonglum was a redheaded fellow who was a bit outlandish at times and often fought with two weapons at once. Ultimately, he met his doom on The Black Blade "Stormbringer", slain by Elric moments before he in turn was slain by the sword, in order to save the Universe from destruction and move on to a new age where Sorcerer Kings and Lords of Chaos reigned no more.

This guy along with several other minis were gifts to me from Mike McCuen, a painter and converter of monumental proportion. I really wanted to master the technique of NMM (non-metallic metal) where you use totally non-metallic paints to emulate the metal areas on the figure, such as the gold, silver and in this case, the green brooch things. Naturally i have more work to go but this is but my 2nd attempt at it in all reality.

I also wanted to enhance and practice my abilities doing some freehand painting. I chose a fairly simple yet snappy looking pattern to try and the results are not too bad as far as I'm concerned. There are a lot of touch ups but it all comes together in the end.

I painted the sword blades twice and the second time came out far better than the first. More practice is needed with the entire NMM technique but it is sure fun trying!
