6mm Epic Marines

Welcome to the absolute tiny, to the degree of being ludicrous! These little marines are used in Epic 40K Warhammer, and measure a mighty 6mm in height! That is 1/4 inch, smaller than your smallest finger nail! Now, conventional means of painting on these guys is not easy! It is hard to just focus your eyes on them without applying any paint! At any rate, Joe Wiedeman hosted a contest at our Masterclass Miniature painting group for these guys... They are mounted on top of a plastic push pin just for more scale reference...

This was my first Mini Mite as they have become affectionately known. I don't do too many sci fi minis so these were a challenge, not knowing any Space Marine chapters and the like. Anyhow, I tried to layer and blend on the first guy, and I also tried NMM (non-metallic metal) trim on his armor. I originally wanted a "G" rune on his shoulder pad (after me of course) but it didn't come out well. I decided he was from the 3rd platoon (roman numeral III on his right shoulder) of the Bloodied Claw Brigade.

This onw came out a bit better I think, and even won me second place in the show! I tried for a medical type this time, and did a ton of layering on his armor. I found that the base color of blue was too dark though, so he didn't come out as white as I would have liked!
