Hand painted in a bronze and patina finish by the sculptor, C.J. Cummings
Bronzed Artist's Proof
"A monster of vaguely anthropoid outline... with an octopus-like head whose face was a mass of feeler... a scaly, rubbery-looking body... long, narrow wings behind... somewhat bloated corpulence... squatted evilly on a rectangular block or pedestal covered in undecipherable characters... tips of the wings touched the back edge of the block... long, curved claws of the doubled-up, crouching hind legs gripped the front edge... huge forepaws which clasped the croucher's elevated knees... abnormally lifelike... subtly fearful..." H.P. Lovecraft
In the beginning. The sculpture before finishing. Sculpted completely out of Super Sculpey. The base has inlaid glyphs of ill portent. The dialect is Cthonian, taken from various resources around the web. The pronunciation of the glyphs is:
"Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn"
The base when deciphered says:
"In his house at R'lyeh dead Cthulhu waits dreaming."
After some small consultation, and a sneak peek, C.J. added some dew claw tips on the wings, to give them a little definition... Also, you can see the immense details put into the claws and wrinkled digits... Muscle structure is very well defined, but I really like the flaps of skin wrinkled around the feet. Very well done. The small octopoid slits of eyes are very well defined as well, and the facial tentacles and feelers look very good. Each knuckle and claw is sculpted with great texture, and the overall pose is bang on IMO!
The finished Bronzed statue, mad from Cold cast Porclain as an Artist's Proof that I am proud to have in my collection. The versions for sale are made identical though they have the Bronze/Patina finish on them to make them appear very ancient and authentic. The base is made from pine stained to a Walnut hue and is very nicely presented.
Another angle of the Artist's Proof.
The rear of the statue, showing muscle structure along the back and the sheer bulbousness of the Great Old One's head.
This picture shows the overall enormity of the statue when compared to a standard 28mm Games Workshop Miniature.
The Final product! Bronze and Patina finish for that "Ancient Collection feel" makes one believe they possess an actual artifact of Cthulhian Mythology. This is what a collector who purchases the statue will receive, along with a Proof of Authenticity. Overall, an awesome statue, and a worthwhile addition to any collection!
Please stop by C.J.'s Site and check out all of his minis and other projects as well! It is worth the visit :D Also, I wish to thank C.J. for the chance to review this, and the beautiful Artist's Proof he sent me as a gift!
